100% Canadian Steel
Every can starts with domestically sourced steel: forged, rolled, and formed in Canada. No imports, no compromises on quality.
Laser Marking
Laser marking is used to add the batch number to the cans, which helps with traceability. Unlike the inkjet marker used by other manufacturers, laser marking does not contain any contaminants. In addition to being more reliable and faster, laser marking offers a wider range of possibilities, like that of integrating a QR code.
Custom Sizes & Lithography
Standard formats or fully custom dimensions. Full-wrap lithography and private-label printing available directly from our facilities.
Nitrogen Welding
Our nitrogen welding technology allows for a nicer and paler weld line. This new welding process guarantees a colorless, more resistant, and durable weld. Due to this innovative technology, the can weld does not give any taste to the filling product.

FOOD ENDS
End to End Quality.
We offer a wide range of food ends, including easy open ends, sanitary ends, peel off ends, and steel bottoms. These options allow you to customize your can based on utility, desired opening strength, and embossing.
Easy Open End
Features a ring-pull tab that allows consumers to open the can without a can opener. Ideal for retail products where convenience is a priority.
Sanitary End
The standard hermetically sealed end for maximum hygiene and shelf life. Used across the broadest range of food products and retort processes.
Gold Peel Off End
A peelable membrane end with a gold finish, offering easy opening without tools. Commonly used for premium products, desserts, and portion-controlled servings.
Peel Off End
A transparent or white peelable seal that provides tamper-evident closure. Suitable for products where consumers need to verify the seal integrity before opening.

COATING
A barrier between the can and the food.
Coating creates a barrier between the can and the food to ensure that the can does not rust or give a taste to the food. At Ideal Can, we work collaboratively with our clients to determine which coating option suits their needs best; the coating used entirely depends on the use of the can, i.e. the filling. All coating types follow high food standards and are approved for food contact.
Gold coating
The standard interior coating, suitable for most low-acid and neutral-pH foods including vegetables, soups, and beans. The gold/amber color comes from the epoxy-lacquer base and provides reliable protection across a broad range of applications.
Gray coating
Preferred for high-acid foods such as tomatoes, citrus-based products, and certain sauces. Provides enhanced resistance to corrosion from acidic contents, ensuring the integrity of both the can and the food over the full shelf life.
White coating
Ideal for light-colored foods where appearance inside the can matters, including fruits, dairy-adjacent products, and pale sauces. For foods with staining properties, additives can be incorporated into the coating to prevent discoloration.
BPA-NI options available: Our BPA-NI (non-intentionally added) compliant linings are available across our full range of can sizes and formats, meeting regulatory requirements and consumer expectations.
BEADING & NECKING
Structural strength and stacking efficiency.
Beading
Beading impacts the strength of the can. It allows the can to be stronger radially. A can is beaded to add more strength for the filling process, which requires a great resistance force.

Necking
3-Piece Stackable Cans
Ideal Can specializes in 3-Piece stackable cans. This technology makes it possible to stack cans together in a second. It saves space and is easier to work with in transportation and packaging. Available in all can formats.
The necking of a can is an important feature to consider. Food cans are either necked or non-necked. Necked cans have a smaller end to make them stackable; non-necked cans cannot be stacked to fit with other cans.
Necked: Reduced end diameter for compact stacking and better logistics efficiency.
Non-necked: Uniform diameter from top to bottom; cannot be stacked with other cans.
Rolling Bead option: A Rolling Bead can be added with the neck, a bump at the top of the neck that evens out the wider setting. Among other things, it allows the can to be used in the autoclave process of the same type as a 2-piece can Rolling Bead.
